Will This Finally Cut My Weeds Down

I had some old plywood no longer good to use for anything lying around and it made me wonder, can I use this as a better weed block than the cardboard and contractors paper? We will find out if this stops the weeds from growing in our garden next year. Also a little update on things were doing around the Citystead.
