Howdy friends! We have a saying in Texas that goes like this..."If you don't like the weather, just wait 15 minutes, and it'll change..."

That's a very accurate statement. Here in my neck of the woods, we were in the 20's early this week on Monday, then into the high 70's - almost 80 yesterday. It looks like we're in a La Nina pattern according to the Weather Channel through the remainder of this month of February. The upside? Much needed rainfall!

So what does that mean? Should we expect an early spring? According to the data, my friends in the southern and southeastern states are going to experience unseasonably warm temps.20180215_155732.png

I think it's safe to say it time to wrap up winter projects, and make final preparations for spring plant ASAP.

Only time will tell, but if y'all hold on...I'll let you know in 15 minutes!!!

We're ALL HANDS ON DECK to finish annual creek cleanup THIS weekend!

Not a place you wanna be outside of the cold winter months...plenty of water moccasins, rattlesnakes, and other critters...
We REALLY need the RAIN here in Texas...normally this creek is full...20180215_152809.jpg

i thing Is It Time to Plant :p

I would agree!!! Thanks for commenting @chichano !

Hi, will all that wood in the creek find a good home? ;)

Absolutely!!! The seasoned, sound wood will become firewood to be split and stacked. The rotted "punky" wood either becomes chipper mulch or it has to be burned. I try to up-cycle and re-purpose as much of our natural resources as possible. Excellent question @eggmeister !

@texasoffgrid, thanks for reply :)
Would you 'char' a little of the punky wood for potential future flint n steel and/or magnifying glass fire starting options?

[yup, I'm a pyromaniac] :D

That's an excellent idea @eggmeister ! You ROCK Man...gonna make a Post on that idea...hadn't thought of that!

I'll look forward to seeing the post @texasoffgrid.
Appreciated :)

I'm waiting on UK weather to improve so I can continue with my 'prepper basics' fire-starting series with some magnifying lens stuff. Man gotta love the flame ;)
