To live abroad is never easy, with the high cost of living nowadays. As a Mother, budgeting comes a challenge especially with a growing family, But a little discipline and a handful of creativity can take you a long way to save money.

Here are some tips that I do to save Dirhams without compromising.

a. Cook - It's healthier, economical, plus you know what's in your food.

b. Make a batch food - divide it in containers and freeze them. Just rewarm it for future use. It saves you time for cooking too.

c. Cook from the scratch - Be creative with your leftover.

d. Make a grocery list and stick to it - this is tricky, you can time up yourself to avoid impulsive buying.

e. Never go to a supermarket with a hungry tummy- this is so true. you tend to spend more when your hungry, leading to impulsive buying.

f. Save on electric - switch off lights / gadgets if not in use. Use energy saving lights (LED). let's help the environment :-)

g. Grab offers - try to buy in bulk except for perishable items or items that won'last, Best to get at 30% off.

h. Sell - sell your stuff you don't use. It gives extra money and a chance to declutter your space.

i. Negotiate your rents - learn to Haggle. every business can be negotiable.

j. Review your subscription - find better deals and talk to your agents.

k. Review gym membership - do yo need a gym membership if you only go sporadic times? Be outdoors. Have a walk or jog. It's free, plus a fresher air and closer to nature.

l. Make a DIY - a DIY for your cleaning stuff or for pampering yourself. It's easy, fun, inexpensive and very natural with no harsh additives.

m. Save water- good for your wallets and helpful to nature.

n. Last but not least, and very important in all, is Take care good care of your self - Beingness, spiritually, emotionally and financially.

It is not about self deprivation, It is about a sensible and responsible YOU. It is quite difficult to practice in the beginning, and takes a massive patience but it is worth it and a long run.

Frugality is a sensible and a sustainable living

I also use this rule. Then the products that are superfluous and without which Ican live in the basket do not fall.

I can relate with you @sherylneil. What my husband and I do when there's something we need to buy that isn't included in our usual expenses, we plan and save some money in advanced before buying it no matter what the cost it may be.

Those were the days when I have this mindset that I will buy stuff right away when I need something, because anyway il receive my payout in a few days.

Hello sis @sarahdandridge. Sama here. We try to save as much as possible so it's not gonna be heavy for us if we needed something big to pay.
Thank you for reading. X

For me I also shop where there are rewards or cashback, like Carrefour for example. Always look around for sales and offers! Even so, don't buy impulsively. As you said, stick within the market list. :D
