The Seed Carousel Package has Arrived!
The seed carousel package has arrived, started by @beatitudes8. What is a seed carousel anyway? It is an awesome way to share seeds, ideas, and have some fun with our fellow steemit community. The first stop is @shalomacres and we want to give a big THANK YOU to @beatitudes8. Let us share what is in the package since there is quite a variety ranging from common vegetable to some less popular ones.
When I opened the pack the fist thing that I saw was a place to sign my steemit name to keep track of all the homesteads that the package visited
First seed pack was some Mary Washington asparagus from Bakers Creek.
There are also some Black Vernissage and Green Vernissage tomato seeds from Bakers Creek.
Another seed pack from Bakers Creek was the Cosmic Purple carrot.
Here is a list of the seeds @beatitudes8 harvested from his homestead.
Craigs Grande Jalapeno pepper seeds.
Straight neck squash.
Crimson Sweet Watermelons
Luffa Gourds.
Brown Bush Beans
And the final item in the box was the Boston Pickling Cucumber.
What did we put in??
Green okra and red okra.
We also put in some tobacco seed pods.
The last thing that we put in was a pack of Black Vernissage tomatoes from Baker's Creek.
What did we take out??
It was a hard decision but we decided to take our the purple carrots and the Jalapeno seeds. This year we are going to add a 'little' kick to our salsa so the jalapeno seeds will be a great hit!

The jalapeños do have a little kick well in my opinion anyways lol. I was in such a hurry to get it shipped out I some how forgot to take pictures of all the seeds. I’ve been waiting for your post so I could “borrow” your pics and make a post about it. Can’t wait to see who’s next!
We are shipping it off tomorrow! I am excited about the jalapenos, normally I would buy a pack of 4 instead of growing our own but the seeds made me want to try! I appreciate you setting this up and sending it out!

Great idea! I grew my first garden last year. I did save some seeds... hopefully I did it correctly. What is your number 1 rule in seed saving? Thank you for your time and effort.
I always pick out the best plant and save seeds from them. Next is making sure they are dry before you store them otherwise they will mold. I typically let the seeds set on towels for several weeks if not a month before I store them in paper envelopes. Saving seeds is awesome, many people forget to do that and buy the following year but you never get the 'best', you just get new seeds.

What a cool idea. I remember doing a similar style carrousel mailing with Little Golden Books when my kids were little.
That sounds like fun, our kids would enjoy doing that. It is great to get something fun in the mail.

That does sound fun to have multiple going. We need to start it earlier, after harvest, so we can float it or several around to many more homesteads!
That's a good idea, after harvest. I'll make a note for it in my garden planner so I'll remember and we can get it going!
Now if only Spring would get here so we can get the seeds in the ground!!!
