Another Potential Predator Wanders into our TrapsteemCreated with Sketch.

While this isn't the animal that broke my trap, I'm glad that we were able to take out another potential predator. This guy was trying to dig his way into our chicken coop. Possums are opportunistic omnivores and love an easy meal when they can find it.

I've found that I don't even need to bait the trap anymore. When the predators try to figure out a way into the chicken pen they wander right into the live trap.

I will have to keep an eye out for the one big enough to break this trap. We believe it to be a raccoon. He is still out there probably waiting for the right time to try again.

Are possums a predator for your chickens? What have you done to keep them out of your chicken coop?

Thanks for reading about our pest problem.

Possums and racoons are neck and neck for the top position in the predator competition. They are smart and are good at finding their way in. We have 4 metre high walls surrounding the homestead (that's a story for another day) and they still find their way in...
