It's Calf Time @ The Farm - New Born Today
Been up to the Farm today with my Dad to check on a calf that was due to give birth, yet when we arrived she had already given birth to a rather large Shorthorn calf! Looks more like the size of a few week old than a few hours! She did well to give birth unaided with the size of the little one.
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with farming, I don't eat any red meat, as I can't bare the thought of these little ones going to slaughter and I don't agree with how we genetically choose the size of calfs now many too big for the cow in the name of extra meat. However I love this time of year seeing all the new calfs and lambs being born. I just wish they had their freedom.
Anyway onto some more calf and cow photos
This black calf was born yesterday or the day before I think.
Excuse the afterbirth but this calf was born earlier this morning.
This cow makes me laugh, she only has one horn! When being dehorned as a young cow one must have been missed! Makes me chuckle with her rocking her one horn.
Thats all the farm photos for today, might have some more tomorrow.
