Allotment24 - Day 3 -The Digging Has Begun [PHOTOS]
Yesterday, after clearing the grass that had been strimmed I got the fork out and starting lifted the ground where the old boarders are.
It was hard but we managed to do one section. (The bit under the carpet is also dug up)
We have been trying to decide on what the best layout will be. I'm fond of the idea of having a natural pond with some frogs to help with the slugs and snails and maybe a solar powered pump, however i'd rather have good oxygenating plants. Has anyone got any tips? Greatly appreciated.
As for the layout, we are some what stuck between 2 larger boarders or maybe 4 smaller ones with paths that form a cross. Maybe with the pond being a feature in the centre point.

Thankfully my friend Rach who will also be helping on the allotment is has given me two tarps to use. So when I left, I covered it up. In the hope of killing off all the grass!
Weve still got a lot to do, take each day, hour by hour, we have till next spring to get it ready. We are currently on the hunt for edging material, maybe slabs or tiles.
