RE: EVERYBODY'S TUCKED IN FOR A COLD NIGHT!

in #homesteading7 years ago

It always sucks when the plants wake up to warmth before the freezes are done for the year.

I tossed a bunch of cool weather greens, herbs, and spices in the ground a couple weeks ago. Just in time for probably a third of them to sprout, followed soon after by a thundersleet storm and below freezing days all this week. So far some of the sprouts look yellowish and not so good, but others look perfectly fine. I haven't watered them either because its so cold I don't want them to freeze more. I also just ordered our fruit trees to get our food forest setup. Hoping the turbulent MIssouri weather doesn't affect them.

Also 10 pounds of Jeruselum Artichokes. I held off ordering the speciatly seed potatoes I wanted because of the cold weather and now the place is sold out of them. Oh well. such is life. Good thing you covered your seedlings. Don't have anything here to do that yet. Plus I planted tons of seeds, some are bound to sprout later on. I can always replant, too.

I've had to restart some stuff this year because of the weather.

Oh that sucks! I'm sorry. The weather is becoming much harder to predict it seems.
