How To Make Compost Fertilizer From Leaves and Livestock Dung
For fertilizer plants is a nutrient source or a very nutritious food that is useful for plant growth. In addition, fertilizer also serves as a planting medium for plants. Fertilizer there are many types and kinds, one of which is compost fertilizer
Compost fertilizer is a fertilizer made from the remains of living things can be from the leaves of former animal feces such as chicken feces dung goat poop or organic waste remnants of organisms are decomposed by microorganisms or macroorganisms commonly referred to as decomposers.
Making compost is not difficult, but we can also clean the surrounding environment from unused leaves or banana trunks. The environment can be clean and the plants can be fertile.
In making compost we can use anaerob method (without air) and aerob method (with air), later below we will discuss both ways. Form of compost fertilizer is also a variety of liquid-shaped, there is a solid, even some form of tablets. In this discussion we will try to make a compost-shaped fertilizer because it is the simplest and easiest way to put into practice.
How to Make Compost Fertilizer
Compost material
In making compost fertilizer it should be noted that some organic materials used should use organic materials containing carbon nitrogen moisture content of about 40 to 50% and PH about 6 to 8.
Here are some materials that are often used for the manufacture of compost fertilizer, namely: straw, banana gedebog / banana stem. cattle dung (chicken, cows, goats), or legume seeds (eg livestock fodder such as Kaliandra Leaf, Gamal, Lamtoro, Turi, Indigofera, Sentro, Puero, Orok-orang, Pinto Nuts, Telang Flower, Lablab, Kalopo, Sorghum, Legetan), can also be combined with fuel husk
- Compost fertilizer aerob method
Making compost in an open way involves air.
1. Provide a place to make compost, an ideal place measuring about 5-10 cubic meters (as needed) can be by using a cast board or a large bucket that is hollowed down if only for household-scale needs.
2. Location where the manufacture is either protected from direct sunlight or rain, can be covered with a tarp.
3. Prepare organic ingredients such as crop residues, straw, banana stems, livestock manure, or other organic ingredients. Cut organic materials into small pieces to break down and load more.
4. Put the organic material into container or reservoir until solid, fill it to the full after it flush with water, water can be mixed with EM4 solution to accelerate decay.
5. Leave for 2-4 days.
6. On the 4th day flush back with water to lower the temperature so that the microorganism does not die.
7. 3-4 Days once turning compost materials to keep the temperature optimal.
8. Usually within 40-45 days the compost is finished, finished compost is marked with brownish black, smooth or friable, odorless, and shrinks from the starting material about 50%.
- Compost fertilizer anaerob method
Composting with closed way.
1. Provide a sealed container such as a barrel or a closed bucket as the container we will use
2. Prepare a starter as a decomposer. How to make it is by mixing 1 cc EM4, 1 liter of water, and 1 gram of sugar, let stand for 1 day (24 hours).
3. Prepare plastic tarpaulin to be used as base, chopping organic material store above tarpaulin. Organic materials can use banana, forage, straw, or sawdust. Rajang until finer is finer then better.
4. Spray the starter (EM4 solution) we have made earlier on the organic material that has been mashed evenly.
5. Put the ingredients that have been finely chopped into an airtight barrel. Cover tightly and allow 3-4 days for the materials to ferment well. After 4 days the fertilizer can be in check is mature or not. Manure fertilizer marks that fertilizer has a smell like tape smell.
