Let's check out ways in which the vegetables can be stored in the winter.

  1. You need to avoid keeping the vegetable in the wet region. Instead keep it in dry pantry room.
  2. Find out ways to reduce the temperature of that place, if you can have refrigerator in that room.
  3. You can store the vegetables and dried food in the root cellar. Though not all modern houses have it. But if you are building house on your own you can definitely consider it.
  4. Apple, cabbage, tomatoes and few other vegetables can;t be stored in root cellar, so you may want to make use of the fridge for this.
  5. Onions and potatoes can be placed in the root cellar even without refridgerator.
  6. Do not wash the vegetables before storing them. That would just get them wet and may invite bacteria. You can clean the dirt with tissue paper though.
