The Food Cartels
GMOs have been touted to the world as the solution to global hunger. The stark reality is this technology is not about helping people eat healthier or even more abundantly, nor is it about simply growing better food to feed the world.
It's about greed, pure and simple! Even worse it's about control!
GMOs are genetically modified organisms that can be a plant, animal, or microorganism whose genetic makeup has been modified using recombinant DNA methods. It may also be known as gene splicing, gene modification or transgenics.
Controlling the worlds food supply and owning all the resources to grow such a necessary commodity places the shareholders of such enterprises in very powerful and lucrative positions.
Absolute power corrupts, let me repeat this, Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely!
Six major conglomerates own in excess 90% of the worlds resources for growing and maintaining crops. 90%!! One multinational corporation even owns the rights to the actual seeds! The scariest part of this grand plan is what are known as "Terminator" seeds. These seeds are genetically engineered to be sterile (plants are unable to reproduce their own seeds.)
In many less developed parts of the world, saving seeds from season to season is the only way farmers are able to survive and continue growing food. Farmers are being forced to rely on GMO specific companies to sustain their livelihood at a expense most are not be able to bear.
In other words it's unsustainable!
Six multinational corporations Monsanto, DuPont, Syngenta, Bayer, Dow, and BASF control 75% of all private sector plant breeding research, 60% of the commercial seed market, 100% of the GM seed market, and 76% of global agrochemical sales (think Roundup).
Monsanto alone controls 98% of the US seed market for soy and 79% of the maize market.
Additional crops include Alfalfa, Canola, Cotton, Papaya, Soy, Beets, Zucchini and Yellow Summer Squash.
Even animal derivatives such as eggs, gelatin, honey, meat, milk, semen, vaccines and veterinary medicines have been drawn into this mad science experiment. Many microbial products like cultures, enzymes and yeasts are not immune.
Shortages of food (i.e. during natural disasters or conflicts) can lead to breakdowns in a society's fabric. It may sound conspiratorial, but what a great way to eliminate and control the population of the world while making billions at the same time!
If you think the 1% have humanities best interests at heart you'd be 100% wrong!

GMO's are not inherently evil, though the same might not be said for corporations.
Terminator seeds are.🐓
Oh dear, just to depress you more.

Except @mother2chicks' chicks. They don't control those. 😘😘
That is depressing isn't it? What ever happened to breaking up monopolies? Don't know if I could live on eggs alone. Guess we could mix them with a few veges and herbs. Quiche would work!
Why just last week somebody asked Granny if she would sell them chickens. Granny told them they were already promised to the crock pot!
Did you see how tesla is supplying electrical panels to Puerto Rico and someplace in Australia? They are coming back much faster than I anticipated. Just wish they would build better and smarter than before the storm.
Got to go check out your post. Finally have some time to read.
Love from the hills Ellie Mae 🐓🐓
Hey there, Ellie Mae, I wasn't actually trying to depress you, but it makes for stark thinking, doesn't it? As you say, grow your own as much as possible.
I couldn't live on eggs alone, but I could certainly up my intake. They've been getting a bad rap over the years for having too much cholesterol and now the new wave of scientific studies is telling us they're absolutely fine. I love stuffing zucchini with scrambled eggs, chopped up peppers and a little bit of tangy cheese. Nummy! Quiche great, but I'm useless on pastry.
And yes on Tesla! I saw a heartbreaking aerial shot of the words "Send Tesla" spelled out in pieces of roof in Puerto Rico. I've been following that Australian story and it looks like Tesla will meet their target. They had some supplier problems but have licked those. Interesting times.
I agree with you that building better and smarter post hurricane is a good idea. In all the places affected! It's such a good opportunity for blockchain app developers to work with renewable energy and waste management specialists to come up with solutions which will address water, waste management and energy needs all in one. A nearly blank canvas - but there are people on this canvas, and the reconstruction will have to be sensitive to their needs. I've heard Puerto Ricans saying they may not be able to send their kids to school for at least a year. That's harrowing to contemplate.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the read. Trying not to make it too dry.
Love from the south LD 😊😊
We agree @mother2chicks, you just can't trust most of the food on the grocery shelves these days. More farms are being absorbed by these huge agro companies. Hopefully people will start taking more interest into what's going into their bodies and stop supporting them. Buy local or try growing your own if possible!
Exactly!
Hope you and yours are doing well🐓
