CHILDREN Of The GUN - Homestead Firearms Training For DEER SEASON

chilthumb.jpg

There are many things that a good parent should teach their children before they become adults. Some of the random things my children WILL KNOW how to do include things like learning at least 1 foreign language, how to change the oil on a vehicle, how to cook and how to play chess.

Also included in my list is how to handle a weapon.

Too many kids today are only taught what the public school system demands they should be taught. Thus they are completely and hopelessly inadequately trained for the challenges life will throw at them in the years after school.

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”

That would be a good quote to pass on to my sister who's trying to decide where to go with the last of her schoolwork! Specialization is indeed for insects.

Cool! Thanks for watching! Miss you guys!

Me too! Stupid YouTube getting rid of a perfectly good Sabbath evening podcast...I really miss hearing your voices and getting to chat with everyone.

Your little guy's face when he gets that soda bottle is great! He's so pleased!

Yeah Kaleb hit 3 of them today...going to buy some more this week.

Way to go, Kaleb! Our four year old would be pretty pleased with herself for that too.

Hey, I'D be pretty pleased with myself to hit three!

That's how you know a family is going off sugar...soda is for target practice [grin].

Robert Heinlein had it right, mine also learned how to do a budget, laundry, weapons and a whole lot more!

The best thing we can teach them is a love of learning. So it will never stop. :)

This is an important topic. You want your kids to be proficient and safe with firearms. They may need these skills to protect themselves or provide food in the future. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching and the comment!

The soda bottles have returned!!! Good to see you have your boys on the look out for them too and they know how to take 'em down properly and safely!

Kudos for training them in gun safety that is critically important. Just as important in the process of hunter-to-be training, for me, is teaching a healthy respect for taking an animal's life. Eat what you shoot was always instilled in me when hunting for meat. It's a bloody, not for everyone experience, but when you get the opportunity to shoot an animal for sustenance the work has just started. Your children are very aware of that but not all hunters are trained the same.

Best of luck with your hunt. My nephew has his first deer tag this fall. I'm looking forward to enjoying the hunt with him along with my brother. Great topic.

Damn Straight!!

I agreed when he first wrote that and nothing I've seen since has caused me to change my mind. Oddly enough with the mental augments we have now (smartphones, calculators, GPS, etc, etc ) it's getting easier and easier.

"In the Information Age...Ignorance is a choice."

Great message Zac. Children should learn responsibility at an early age. When I take young ones to the range, I tell them that the most dangerous part of a firearm is the human attached to it.

Steem the Dream!

Outstanding video!!!

I would up-vote this more if I could. Good stuff!
