Can You Find GOLD In ARKANSAS? YES....BUT It's small

Gold has been found in Arkansas dating back to the Spanish conquistadors and later by other miners dating to around 1800. But none of the gold deposits found ever enough to keep a mine or claim open for very long. The gold above ground is very fine and in small amounts. The gold below the ground are in hard to reach and small manganese veins. So because the gold is so hard to get to and requires a lot of work to pull the small amounts out of the ground, people just don't bother.

You may have seen some of our other videos of me and the kids playing with pay dirt from Lynch Mining. The pay dirt is from actual mining areas with extra gold added to it that you pay to pan. It's kinda fun to play with and has a historical lesson in it as well. If you want to order some pay dirt, they have some priced for as little at $35 and they run great sales!
You're kids will have a blast. http://www.lynchmining.com/

So I did manage to find a couple specks in my local creek. You will notice that the red spot on that Arkansas located in the Northwest corner is right over where the homestead is. So there is a good chance of finding specks of gold. The real hot spot for gold dust finds is over in the Ouachita mountain area south of Fort Smith. That is the purple area on the left side of the map.

Have you ever dug and panned for gold in your state? Leave a comment below! Most states will have some areas that even a little gold can be found. Arkansas is more known for its diamonds.

GOLD!

Very interesting and no I have not tried to find any gold here in Illinois, but I have had some family come down there for the diamonds!

Oh and try NOT to spend all that gold in one place! haha! :-D

That gold speck reminds me of a curation reward! That looks like fun, maybe a trip to the 'purple area' for some gold panning. @ironshield

I'm in northwest Arkansas. I haven't panned for gold but I have been to Mt. Ida digging for crystals and have friends that go down there to dig regularly.

Watching all the places people find gold is fascinating to me. Always fun to find an odd spot you wouldn't really expect it. Maybe if you saved up enough over the years you could get together a bar!

Dang, I was on my way to Arkansas to buy a gold mine, until I saw this video, Haha. Looks like a lot of fun though.

Selling dirt for fun gold seeking - only in America! But helping kids learn - that's cool.

That is awesome to know you and the kids can get out and enjoy the hunt!

One of the most interesting places to buy pay-dirt was from Homey Depot.
They had a sand supplier that was pulling from an area that had enough black sand in it to actually pan.

Around me there is a lot of Iron Pyrite. So, lots of gold, locked away, hard to get to.

How many of those specks would a 20-gram bar take? Those are close to $800 at the moment, aren't they? :P
