This year's crop from the garden.
After 3 years rebuilding our garden in Bulgaria from basically a overgrown wild jungle, now starting to reap the rewards. Best crop yet this year. Lots and lots and lots of hard work..... but every year it gets easier :)
But I'm just a beginner in Bulgarian village life and just about all the old people here have much more productive gardens than me. I can learn a lot from them. Its just a way of life and nothing special in the village. They were living the self-reliant/organic/homesteading life way, way before it became a thing, and still doing it now. That's what I love about living here.
Mmmmhhh! Those tomatoes will be so good! (And if not maybe I'll send you seeds for some that will be).
Do you know the grape variety, is it local, for wine? What is in photo # 3? Looks like special cherries, but the leaves don't look like cherry...
Hey Thanks :) the tomatoes are a Bulgarian variety called "Розова Магия" (Rozova Magiya). Excellent big pink tomatoes with great flavour, some of the best I ever tasted. The grapes are white grapes, but not sure the exact variety since it was already here on the land, but its a wine grape for sure. The kinda cherry is the Cornelian Cherry. Very popular in eastern Europe. Weird fruit. Tastes awful and gives you cotton mouth like crazy until its very dark red and almost over-ripe, and then its divine. Bulgarians told me its very good for any stomach problems if you make a jam out of it.
Some great looking crops there. Is it apricots or peaches in the first photo? And the third pic?
hey, pic 1 and 2 is a small wild plum growing everywhere in Bulgaria. Pic 3 is Cornelian Cherry
