Introduction to our Homestead with Bonus Deer Footage
Our Little Homestead
We live out in the boonies and loving it.This is our introductory video about our homestead. We lived downtown and close to downtown before and didn't really feel at ease.
We have children who need to be outdoors and a small backyard is not enough. We want them to have their own woods just like how we grew up. We also need them to be safe.
My husband built them swings and we all together made trails around our land to explore and to learn.
The first night we moved in, a doe greeted us in the driveway, waited for us to pull in then ran out to our woods. Wow. She still lives here to this day. We see her often with 2 fawns. We see the damage from bucks on our fruit trees but we haven't seen a buck even once.
We woke up one morning and saw them again, my husband @iamstan filmed it. Our youngest son, Malachi loves to be outside and got to hold a cicada.
Growing Food
We grow some of our food, starting out with a small raised bed close to the house. The rabbits and grasshoppers ate them.
The second year, we had a bigger garden. We had a looong row of green beans and got super excited about it. One morning we woke up to little nubs of green beans. AND...

So this is our third year of attempting to have a garden and so far, we have bounties. We'll post more of that on later uploads.
