L & L Farms...Who we are
We are a small family farm located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Our goal is to live off of the land and to be self sustaining. We hope to pass on to all of you what we have learned along the way and hopefully help you avoid some of our mistakes as well. We live at about 6,000ft elevation, which can make growing things tricky sometimes. We hope that our posts will help you see what you can easily do at such a high elevation and what things take a bit more work. We currently have a flock of rare breed chickens, a productive bee hive, along with a 10,000 sqft garden that keeps us busy. We pride ourselves in making things ourselves. Future posts will include wood working, offgrid solar systems, bee keeping, bee hive construction, poultry, herbal remedies, foraging, organic gardening, seed procurement, making your own cleaners and body products, and just our daily life on the farm.
We hope you will join us in our adventures!
Welcome to steemit! If you are ever looking for a group, actually a community, of homesteaders/gardeners/self-sufficient like-minded people, I am the moderator of a group here... also the "un"official ambassador to the group.
let me know and I can post an invite link here for you!
GREAT to see more homesteaders joining steemit!!!
Curious.. what's in the mason jars fermenting?
Thank you! I am still just getting this figured out but hope to post often of our adventures on the homestead. I would love a link to the group! The jar is a blend of healing herbs that I was infusing into organic olive oil. I use it in my herbal healing ointment I make. I will be posting a tutorial on that along with the other products I make as well. Excited to be here!
Oh great! I make infused oils also.
Looking forward to your upcoming posts!!
I love to see that there are so many others doing the same! I am heading over to check out your posts now, Thank you!
welcome @llfarms, really great intro, sounds like you will be making some very interesting posts. I look forward to reading them.
Thank you so much! We are excited to be a part of this community.
6000 feet?! That's 2000 metres, right? Wow, I'm at 1000 m and I thought that was challenging! Great photos: all that wildlife sure is wonderful, isn't it!
Love your photo graphs! Looking forward to reading more about doings on your homestead.
