Worm Bin Updates
So it has been a long time since I did an update on my worm wigwams. We recently moved them into a 32 ft building that has power ran to it and out of the 45 ft shipping container. I have 3 of these CFT flow thru style bins. This is where we moved them to and I have been able to insulate this building along with install a window ac unit to help control temp much better then before.
We are also in the process of building simple wood racks to hold mixing tubs for doing bait worms for sale and increasing casting production.
These are just simple to do racks and we will be starting with eight of them on this side which will hold a total of 64 mixing tubs. We will building these even in the upper portion of the loft also and will be doing anything from Red Wigglers and Euro bait worms to meal worms. These racks should produce an extra 100 lbs of finished product for each eight tubs either castings from the worms to frass from the meal worms. Both are fantastic for the garden. The other half of the building right now is being used for my fodder system to feed livestock but I will do another post about that soon enough.
It does take more then half the space though but we are going to make use of all the excess until we can get a larger building setup for multiple fodder systems and then this building will go to the micro livestock which is what I like to call the things like worms, mealworms, BSFL, crickets etc.
This is the setup we had before which was great for everything except we have not installed the solar and wind generators yet that we needed to keep it climate controlled.
Worms bins are about half full each now and should be ready to start harvest again in a couple of months. They are going strong and really producing which is good because we will have used what we harvested to move them by then.
