CONSERVING OUR GREEN PLANET

in #homesteading8 years ago (edited)

If our world has no plants, what will happen to us? What will happen to our lineage in the next generation?

Our plants should always be our major priority today because even the living organisms, they need it to survive. There are maybe plants that don't need our proper care because they multiply independently and feed their own, but preventing plant distraction can help conserve our green ecosystem. The living organisms need this species to live longer, how much more than us?

Dear friends,

I believe that planting everything at home is good for conserving our plants. In our yard, there are many of this species that the visitors can see. Even if our surrounding is cemented, my mother uses a container in order to see them growing healthy in good number. So, if your house is cemented, you are very good to have that pot. Planting is the system to reproduce this species in multiple numbers of their genes. Before undergoing this process, there are two types of breedings we need to know such as sexual and asexual reproduction.

Asexual reproduction is a type of breeding which organisms multiply itself. Sexual reproduction involves the gathering of eggs, cells, and sperms. Sometimes, there are processes in asexual reproduction that cannot be called as this kind of breeding because they don't do their roles.

In the yard, we can see these plants:

Lemongrass

My mother planted lemongrass because she has hypertension. Instead of buying medicine, lemongrass is the natural way to regulate her blood normally. It is also perfect for stews. Cutting is the way to reproduce it after propagation. To propagate, simply absorb its stalk to the water in a glass and observe until you see its roots. Then it will be ready to be planted in the soil.

Malabar Spinach

My mother has also planted an alugbati (Malabar spinach). It grows more independently in a rainy season and healthy in a soft and cool temperature of the soil.

Euphorbia

Funny that I just know its name when I asked my #steemitachievers teammates on our group chat what its name until they said it is euphorbia. It is very dangerous for kids because it is thorny. Even me is afraid to touch its body. I never know what's special in this plant then I saw its flowers. It's so beautiful. According to @mermaidvampire, it's expensive.

Snakeskin (Sansevieria)

I don't know if it's a myth or not but according to the elders, it's a threat to the real snakes. I've grown up with this plant. We have plenty of this in our old house. It easily grows abundantly. Propagating the leaves is the way to reproduce.

Orchids

Like the snakeskin plant, I've also grown with orchids. Mother is always a fan of this flower because it grows flexibly. It can grow in a tree without soil. It grows either sexually and asexually because we can plant it by seeding and propagation. It reproduces themselves.

String beans

We benefited so much of beans. My father was given seeds from the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) and we planted it in the roof in a pot. It easily grows and easy to sell. The process of reproducing beans is called fertilisation. We can plant it everywhere as long as there is a pot because it is not very demanding in climate. Its benefit for the soil is the soil fertility because they fix the nitrogen along their roots. Always water this plant if the breeze is hot. It can be planted also in a cool place and can germinate faster in a cold temperature. To grow for sure, always plant in an inch deep.

Lemon

There are two ways to reproduce this kind of plant. It can be sexually and asexually because it can be multiplied by grafting and seeding. However, the fruits taste depends how we reproduce.

Science Values our Plants

Because of the progression of technology, plants are used easier to help us. As part of the change, fastest reproduction is always involved. Thanks to Science for helping the breeders. It opens a lot of chances to conserve these species and help our farmers. These methods are discovered many years ago but these are still used today.

1. Production of Ethylene. Farmers use this system to ripe and reap the fruits all-together. The fruits are riped artificially affected by gaseous hormone or ethylene. It reduces the fruit acidity. The farmers burn nonchemical materials to the root grove.

2. Modern Breeding Program. It uses hybridization that provides new cereals in the industry. This was done primarily in International Rice Research Institute in Los Banos.

3. Cloning in Plant. It reproduces thousands of seedlings each month that improves farmers in economic crisis. The cells from the young stems are taken and are taken care of until it forms a cancerlike cell. Once born, the new plant looks the same in its parent. It is generated by genotype alone that contributes economic progression.

4. Radioactive tracers. It investigates the process of the plant. It uses radioactive tracers that are isotope to provide radiation by X-ray. The evolution of the plant is tracked by locating radioactive phosphorous along with calcium to the water that the plant consumes. The water action is also monitored.

Plants and their functions compel humans to understand their beauty and importance. Every one of us should be aware of the green conservation not just because of its economic values but plants are the basic source of energy for all living things.

@wondratv, good luck friend. I will be living in Manila for one month maybe from March 13 'coz I'll be undergoing test in St.Luke or maybe Philippine General Hospital.I wish we can meet there with @surpassinggoogle and @janicehung.

hopefully I could meet you all personally :)

hala dungan2 nasad tag homesteading friend ma curie napud unta hehe
