Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 157 Part 1

in #homesteading6 years ago

This is a video from Day 157 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' six hundred and fifty-four days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods. 'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. It has been quite the journey so far. @jacobpeacock

In this video I talk about just taking it easy that day because when I woke up I was really stiff and could barely move.

I talk about doing some hiking but how much of the areas I want to look for mushrooms in are inaccessible and how it would be a bit safer doing it with another person.

I talk about how the previous day I planted the sourwood seeds that I gathered and how it was an experiment just to see if they would grow.

I talk about how a lot of black walnut leaves and nuts kept falling into the pots where I planted the black locust seeds. I explain some of the other problems with the placement of the flower pots.

I talk about some of the things that are really frustrating me about having to move to a new area and also having to move all my stuff. I go into a lengthy explanation about everything involved with my frustrations.

I talk about how my phone service is going to be off and how I look forward to it because making the posts each day and uploading the videos to Google Drive is a major pain in the butt and a huge source of aggravation.

As always this is just a summary of the video's content and not meant to explain everything that I cover in the video.

Tip: If you have trouble viewing the video you can always right-click the video and click 'Save Video As...' and download it directly.

I have been trying to avoid revealing any spoilers but since you asked...yes I stuck it out and am still here at the farm. :)

Glad it worked out for you at the farm. And thank you for not leaving me hanging off the cliff to long...in suspense. @jacobpeacock (:

I am glad about it as well @annephilbrick! :)
