Computing our family needs!

Also, I know we spend a lot on food, that’s why I’m asking for suggestions.
Most of what we buy is organic and everything whole grain. We are lucky to be able to afford to.
We do have a fair amount of food waste which all gets composted or fed to the chickens.

As to the somewhat snide comments about how we are able to afford it, not really your business but I own a dog boarding facility and my wife was a successful electrical engineer before retiring from that to run our friend’s veterinary practice.

How much do you all spend on food? We spend more on feeding our family and animals than any other expense.
How do you reduce cost without sacrificing quality?
Raising meat chickens in spring and we are trying a garden, what else should I look into? Hoping to go to one income next year.

Total-$1,160+ per month

Three people- $700

Nine dogs- $300

Two cats- $60

30ish Chickens-$100

Raising chickens doesn't save any money if you are buying grain to rear them with. You could try quail, they can be cheaper to raise and make good eating.
Vegetable gardening does save on the food bills, but not slow-growing vegetables like onions. Those you may as well buy
