A cattle panel is 50” wide x 16 feet long, has 6” x 8” holes, and is made with 3* gauge wire. A horse panel is 60” wide X 16 feet long, has 2” x 4” holes, and is made with 4* gauge wire. *Wire is sized so the smaller the number, the bigger the wire.

We use cattle panels for fencing when conventional fencing takes a lot of abuse. It saves repairing fencing. We will also cut cattle panels to a smaller size and use them for gates. Horse panels are also used for gates when we need to keep the chickens out of the garden.

Cheers and thanks for your up-vote, Tim and Joann

Thanks for sharing Tim...I did not know the difference before. Question - could cattle panels be cut down to size and used as trellis for plants?

Yes. We used them for our tomatoes one year, but a cage works better.

What did you use for the cage? I remember Zac did a post/video about it but can't remember what material he mentioned.

We just used 48" fencing with 4 x 4 holes. We have also used cattle panels for a bean trellis.
