I found this quote from the Jewish Talmud the other day that I thought is worthy of meditation. “According to the struggle, so is the reward.” This statement is true on a superficial or deeper level.

Yesterday, I read a post from @markrmorrisjr https://steemit.com/writing/@markrmorrisjr/6-reasons-it-s-hard-to-get-seen-on-steemit-and-16-specific-things-you-can-do-to-fix-it-today. We all want our posts to get noticed. Sometimes it is a struggle, but if we persist, the rewards can be great.

People who visit our homestead comment that we have done a lot in just a few years. They do not realize the struggles we had the first year working hard just to survive. We are reaping rewards of that struggle.

It is the struggles in life that make us who we are and build depth of character. Struggles can be hard, but without them we would become very shallow. “According to the struggle, so is the reward.”

Have a great day and thanks for your up-vote, Tim and Joann

I think the temptation is so often to want to find a silver bullet for every situation. We want the benefits of things without putting any investment into them.

We had an interesting discussion around the thought that perhaps this was one of the reasons God hated Esau but loved Jacob: because Esau despised his birthright - the birthright of needing to take on the burden of leading his father's household in the ways of the Lord that were strange to their neighbors - but he coveted the blessing and was angry he didn't get it.

Jacob, meanwhile, tended to his father's business (he was a man of the tents, implying he tended the household and the flock rather than going off hunting) and worked hard even with the blessing. He struggled with God, he didn't just expect God to bless him without the struggle. It can be easy to say he didn't understand God's grace, but God really did bless Jacob for wrestling with him.

I'm sure there is not much in the Talmud that is worth mentioning, but that was good!

Blessed is the lord

Interesting and thought provoking...

Grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Many move instead of sticking it out and making their place like yours! Thanks for sharing Tim!
