The First Winter Storm Prep - November 30, 2019 @goldenoakfarm

Storm prep - all stuff in addition1 crop November 2019.jpg

As he couldn’t do capping on the roof, he started prepping for the big storm coming on Sunday. He had to clean the driveway out so he could plow. He’d gotten our son to move the insulation into the addition during the week.

But now all his building materials had to come in so they would not be frozen down to the ground. And all his equipment that was still out there needed moved inside.

He’s going to have to figure out a different plowing pattern. Used to be, he push it up the slope into what is now the living room. It made a mini sliding hill for our son when he was small.

Then he went to put the plow on the truck. He said it was the easiest it had ever gone on.

That left him with just enough time and energy to get the layers’ snake fence down. So I was dragged away from my candles in the windows project to assist. As it was, it was cold enough that 2 of the old posts snapped in the process. This will be a repair job inside for my helper friend and I one day this winter. We brought the netting to the house and he emptied the truck into the barn of the rest of the fencing. So now the hens are confined to the winter pen.

Sunday he needs to get the snowblower ready and find the snow shovel. Then he will bring in lots of wood for both stoves and he may need to gas up the truck and fill the gas cans. Then we can sit back and watch a movie while it snows.
