Puzzle progress1 crop Dec. 2018.jpg

I haven’t made a lot of progress on the puzzle. My husband is the one who finally connected the perimeter except in a couple places. He started the red ribbon yesterday.

New stove pipe crop Dec. 2018.jpg

The stove in the cellar usually burns so strong that we had to put a damper in the pipe when we first got it. But the last week or so, it’s really not wanted to burn. The humidity from all the rain this year rusted the pipe badly and the top of the stove.

My husband was going to clean the chimney and decided to replace the stove pipe while he had it apart. He, of course, did this on one of the first sunny days we had. Ever since he finished this job, the stove has been burning really hot. Not sure if it had to do with the pipe, the weather, or the wood. But we are warm!

First bird on feeders crop Dec. 2018.jpg

He was sitting eating lunch yesterday and saw the first bird on the feeders, a goldfinch. The juncos, mourning doves, and a grackle had showed up on the ground the day before. There was also a cardinal in the tree, but he was not seen on the feeder.

NewsletterA crop December 2018.jpg

I’ve been working on the Christmas newsletter for 2018. I make 2 versions of this, 1 that has small type and is condensed down for e-mailing as a pdf, and another one with large type and photos for my mom and my husband’s mom. They don’t have computers and their eyesight isn’t so good anymore. I print them out copies and bind them.

This church in Old Deerfield, Mass hosts music series during the year. They also do A Community Service of Lessons in Carols before Christmas. A friend of mine takes me to these and we went to the Christmas one last night. Area schools bring their choral and chamber groups to perform parts of the service. I like listening to the children sing.

The church has a beautiful old organ and they decorate the inside of the church for Christmas.

So I am still enjoying the peace and joy of the season.

That church is really beautiful!

It's small, impeccably maintained and just lovely. When I go to the music series, it's really cool to sit and listen and look out the windows at the snow or the green of the trees through the big windows.
