I guess I should have seen this coming
Although the puppies seemed to be terrified of the kittens when we first brought them home, the climate has changed dramatically. Biscuit, the little girl, has fallen in love with them and is treating them like her babies, cleaning their faces and following them around. It's pretty adorable, but will make for some broken hearts when the kitties have to move out.
Even Two Socks is fascinated with them, although he is not as concerned for their welfare as his sister is.
Yesterday we took all the dogs to the river, to give them some exercise and to give the kitties a chance to nap without Helicopter Mom watching their every move.
I should really remember to read the tide table before we go to the river, though. It was another brutally windy day, and although somehow the dogs don't seem to care, the humans get tired of the constant onslaught of horizontal sand fairly quickly.
The dogs all had their fun, though, even if it wasn't as long as they might have liked.
Looking upriver (east), the weather looked pretty nice.
Looking west toward the ocean, it didn't look so nice. Clearly the evening clouds were moving in early.
I found a few critters on the beach while the dogs were romping. For some reason, ladybugs love to hang out in the sand.
I don't think this little stickleback was enjoying the view, but since it was holding still, I got a few pictures.
After all the puppy fun, it was time to go dig the sand out of my ears. I don't know what the puppies are going to do about their ears.
For my parting shot, here's a trick the kittens have learned already! They can get all the way up to my son's shoulders. It's pretty cute. And no, I'm NOT in love with them.
Looks like a great day out on the beach. Though the dogs must have half of it in their ears. And I've heard you can train kitties to herd goats, sheep and cows. Just THINK of the Youtube possibilities...
I will start the training immediately! They must be good for something other than sleeping on the furniture!

...and eating continuously, if allowed to do so.
My sister had a cat named Two-Sock (poor grammar), and my brother had a dog named Sox (still poor grammar). Apparently we as a family are not very original (or strong in grammar).
Such cute pictures. That expression on the dog's face is one of my favorite expressions to see on my own.
Oh, I don't know. You seem to be doing alright in the grammar department. Are any of your dogs named after footwear? Ha ha. That was supposed to be a temporary name since we were only going to keep one. By the time Two Socks and I fell in love the name had stuck. I swear when I call him he gives me a dirty look. I didn't mean to be unoriginal! It was my kid who came up with it!

Only going to keep one...of his feet?! Lol, kidding. It is sweet how your maternal instincts are given out to so many creatures.
Hahahaha! The fight to keep Two Socks is the main reason I have no chance with the kittens. I keep telling them I don't love them, but I don't think they believe me. We're over-mammaled.

Clearly you need to find some homeless reptiles. Maybe an odd amphibian.
Birds! That's what you need.
I have a whole lot of birds, but they all live outside. I'm sure I could adopt a frog. I found a snake in the baseboard heater years ago but he wanted to go outside. I need to up my game.

Love these photos And those lil kitties! :)
They need a home. I can send them to you! You know you want little Velcro kitties climbing up your legs first thing in the morning.

How many kittens are there?
Just two. I assume she had more and the others didn't make it. If she had them in the barn, the owl might have eaten a few.

Oh my. country life...
The dogs seem to enjoy the trip to the river. Pity about the strong wind.
They love it and don't mind the wind at all. Dogs have such low standards!

That is why they are man's best friend. haha...

Fantastic capture of the lady bug..!!!!
Seeing your pictures of the ocean sure makes me wish I lived closer to the ocean.... I would love to take a long walk on the beach..
:)
Great photos! That dog is quite the digger. Thanks for sharing your neck of the woods. It's very pretty there and your posts are great.
Thank you! Sand is so much fun to dig in. Plus they don't get in trouble for it like they do when digging in the yard!

I missed that you'd brought the kittens home. :-)
They are sure cute - especially adopting the puppies like that! I guess they love the warm, fuzzy...
You have those bay clams? Or whatever they're called... That's cool. I've never seen those - we only looked for razor clams, of course.
Great pictures, as always. We love seeing your life.
Of course I brought the kittens home! They're so cute.
There are tons of those little clam shells all over the place. I don't know what they are either.
You need kittens, right?
