Another goat move

in #homesteading5 years ago

Yesterday was mercifully quiet. I actually got to take a nap! Today was a little less quiet. The goats on the job had eaten everything they were going to eat. Here's what it looked like when they started.

Here's what it looks like less than five days later.

The homeowner actually offered to drive the goats to their parking spot, which was very nice of her. My truck is down with a blown head gasket, so I can't drive trailers around until we find a solution to that daunting problem. All the goats are reunited now, and even though it's only been a few days, there was some head butting and posturing for a few minutes so they could figure out who was in charge.

This afternoon, we took one of the repossessed puppies over to visit my friend, who has already adopted one of them. We're trying to talk her husband into adopting another one. The play date was very cute.

Poor little Flip has been a little lonely living with three older dogs. Nobody wants to play with him! They had such a good time romping and playing that Flip was absolutely worn out by the end of it.

We took a moment to check out her new hugelkultur bed. She's really excited about it.

We brought Bear home, and he made it almost all the way before he threw up. Sigh. Driving with puppies is a work in progress. Hopefully we can wear down my friend's husband and Bear can go live with them. He's such a wonderfully sweet dog. I wish we could keep him, but we're overloaded.

It's been a long day, but a good one. Now that all the goats are parked less than a mile from my house, tomorrow should be a relatively easy day. No twenty mile round trip for goat rounds, no fence moving. Just a leisurely jaunt down the road to hang out with my babies.

Be well, everyone.

So, you hire out your brush-clearing services? What a great idea!

I was sure I had told you about that! Haha! That's how I managed to keep all my sweet boys that I didn't want to part with. It's also why I can't stay awake past 8:00 most nights!

You may very well be right, lol. I can't keep track of everything in my own life either! I remember something about your sweet boys though. :-)

Wow! I am impressed by your goats! I wished I could hire your goats too.

Hope you have everything dirt out soon! You really deserve a good day resting!

Cheers.

Sorry about your head gasket. That gotta suck.
The goats sure did a good job. That was nice they offered to help with the transport.

A nap! Yay. Like lil flip there :)

I would totally love to adopt the doggie but I live too far away and I already have 2 doggies. I hope you find him a nice home soon!

Me too! They're destroying the house!

Hello... :)
@goat-girlz
WOW... There is definitely a before and after. Goats are truly professionals in this line of work...!!!!
Flip.... so precious and tired. Sweet photo...!!!!!
:D

They are very dedicated snackers! When it's a place the owner has an immediate plan for, sometimes I leave them for a couple of days after they've eaten all the obvious stuff and just feed them hay. It makes them more thorough without starving them.
Flip is a little darling and really enjoyed the play time with his brother.

Your goats are marvellous workers. They sure cleaned up in the 2nd photo. Flip is so cute. ❤️

Thank you! They have a pretty good life. Their job is eating and they're experts!
