RE: Is Handspinning Wool on the Homestead a dying art?

in #homesteading7 years ago

My wife has a spinning wheel and loves to spin and dye our fibers. We have a healthy collection of llama, alpaca, and sheep fleeces that she keeps pulling from. We ship ours off to have it processed into roving as it makes it so much easier to spin with. Though that is the biggest cost aside from feed for the animals, the processing costs for the fiber can be a bit off putting. But when a person becomes aware of the amount of work that goes into processing fiber, it is a bit more understandable.

The art of spinning will survive. Faith restored. Thank you
