Battery Issues & Solar Power Update
Our blocking diode failed and caused our fuse to blow. It would have been fine if it were not for the fuse not doing its job and severing the connection like it should have. Instead it blew and refused itself causing the circuit to overload the battery. The 200ah battery overheated and destroyed itself. So we lost half our battery storage. We have 200ah worth of power now which is our bare minimum we need. We should be able to get new batteries this Friday. In a way it’s a good thing because we will be getting more battery power than we originally had now. We are going to change out all the batteries and get a larger bank. I will post pictures and a blog soon of the new battery bank. We didn’t get pictures of the blown fuse sorry. But here is a picture of the overload reading on our meter…

This summer im making a homemade windmill and going to buy a couple solarcor solar panels, we get lots of both wind and sun in saskatchewan seems like a good mix to do
Doing solar and alternative energy projects are always a learning experience . There is always 2 or 3 ways to get to the goal you want :).. It is not set into stone one of the reasons i like my solar.
cool. just so you know windmills do mechanical things and wind turbines create electricity :)
its going to be both then technically cause im going mount a pulley system into a existing old windwill, and have a belt run to a shaft down below and use a gear box and torque converter and have a series of pulleys and belts on the shaft comin out to run to a series of old 110 v furnace motors i re did the brushes in.

Those batteries are expensive I feel for you hopefully these new ones will be better.
got a better fuse block and ordered new blocking diode. so we shall see.
Was that fuse rated for DC or AC voltage?
i run a 100% dc system. the fuse blew as it should have. the problem is it melted and refused itself. it can happen to any type fuse.
