Ok I admit it I grew up as a farm girl
Yes I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin in the 50's thru the 70's. It was a experience a lot of people have never had. This part is about Cows.
I would have to say it was fun and it was. The reason it was fun is because my parents made it that way. It was also a lot of work being on the farm. Don't get me wrong but you get out what you put into it. And I like to share the things that I have learned through that time of my life. So when I post a comment on your post it was I learned it from experienes I have had.
Our farm was a Grade A dairy farm which means our milk from our dairy cows was used for human consumption. Which means a lot of extra work to maintain it. As you are drinking that glass of milk you bought from the store it came from a dairy farm with a grade A status.
What goes into being a dairy farmer. Our cows where feed mainly in pastures except in Winter. The cows are then feed by hay, grain and silage grown and harvested on the farm. Also each cows milk is tested monthly. To make sure it is good quality milk. The barns are inspected for cleanliness. As for the milkmachines they are sanatized as is the strainers and the bulktanks are sainatized and refridgerated.
Now a days I hear about how the cows are never outside and are made to stay in pens and I just don't get it. I also think the cows milk is just for the calfs. When that is true for the first month but afterwards they start drinking less and wean themselves off of the milk. They then eat the same as the cows. I don't blame them if I had 4 stomaches I woulld need to eat other things to. With 1 stomach I need to eat more too.
Keep on steeming @coffeetime
Wow...farm girl...😋 @coffeetime nice post
Yes I am or should say was.
Great dear... Keep it up.. and do find time to check m blog post as I do have beneficial tips for a sweet farm girl😋
It's really neat to see livestock roaming and grazing peacefully over pastures that you have tended yourself. Great post!
I really do enjoy seeing live stock grazing in the pastures it seems so peaceful.
You can take a farm girl off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the girl. Just speaking from experience!
I will always be a farm girl.
wow that farm picture is so beautiful
and so is the cow
I also think cows milk for baby cows, but my 3 year old doesnt want any other alternatives :(
Thanks we seen the calf would wean themselves off the mothers milk long before the cow would stop producing milk and a cow needs to be relieved of the milk or it can make them sick. You pay close attention to your animals and it was how we made our money back then.
The colors are amazing, great place and great cow 🐮🐮🐮🐮
I love the eyes on cows they are so pretty.
