RE: Homestead Clearing

in #homesteading7 years ago

Having a homestead is a lot of work but brings great satisfaction for a job well done. When we bought our property 10 years ago it was a pretty wild place with no fences and a lot of waist high weeds. We had a few salvageable trees and others that would make piles of fire wood. The land laid for a few years while we drew plans and saved money to build a house. No mortgage for us. When we bought the land we laughed and said it was our 10-year project. We are now into our sixth year of clearng, planting and building. And when we look at what we have accomplished it is amazing, but oh, there is so much more to do. It's still a ten year project!

A 10 year project is a reasonable time period to shoot for. It takes time. Not to mention lots of money.
My project is just for fun. I like land. I don't live on it yet. Maybe never will.
Just depends on whether we want to change our life style. I grew up on a farm.
Most everything is not new to me. Just something I like to do.

As we grow older it is harder for us to change our way of life. We become complacent with our life as it is. But change is possible...
