Interesting, but mind boggling stuff. Growing up in the country, my dad built our family home all by himself. He never got any permits. He did the electrical, plumbing, and even the septic system. The only outsider was the well driller. I was too young to understand permitting.

I still wonder what the county people think, when they see a big home with no record of any permits. Our home was right on a relatively busy road, too.
