Started Fixing Drywall In Small House! Starting With The Ceilings Where They Ripped Out The Wiring!

Got the drywall delivered a couple days ago and we started putting it in the small house. The wiring was run through the ceiling through most of the house and it was ripped up as they pulled out the wiring. We took down the drywall on the walls as it was full of holes and we were going to have to put more wiring in so it was easier to pull it down. I was glad we did as the insulation was not very good in sections of the walls and had holes where mice and such had made nests. We got all of that out and we are putting it back in.

We started with the ceiling and there were some large places it was torn up pretty good. We got all of them torn out today and started putting it back in. We got one piece put back in today in the living room.

This is the living room where we replaced the section of the ceiling.

We moved to the biggest place that was torn up and it was in the bedroom. This will be all of the ceilings that was torn up and we got it tore out and will put in back in tomorrow and move on to the walls and replacing the insulation that needs to be replaced.

This is the biggest section that was torn up and this was before we did anything to it.

This is after we tore it out and will replace it tomorrow. Was going to try and get it all done today, but did not work out that way.

This was another section in the bedroom that we had to fix and we will replace it tomorrow also.
When we can get this put back up we will start hanging the walls, except where the windows will be we have to order them and it takes 10 days or so for them to come in. The price was no different than buying off the shelf believe it or not and we got the size we wanted to go in the small house. The wife wanted the long and short windows instead of the narrow and tall windows. That will only be in the living room and in the kitchen though. I will post updates as we go along on the small house build or remodel, whatever you would like to call it, so be sure to look for them.

Repair, replace, restore all takes time, enjoy the journey it will be worth it in the long run!

Yes, it is worth it. It just takes time. I enjoy the joking and fun time with the family as we do this.

I never learned to do repair work. My brother is the one from our family that acquired that skill.

I did construction all through high school and on weekends. The summers were all work for me. Had lots of family friends that were contractors, so I learned from them and am grateful for them taking the time to teach me their trade.

I do this for a living. Demo ceilings in an old house is always fun! Lol I recommend you seal everything with a primer sealer before you texture to even your finish. Good luck!

Oh yeah always! Even prime walls before paint or you have a chance of it peeling and bubbling up.

Patience and little bites at a time, you'll have it done before you know it.

Yes, we have come a long way in the time we have worked on it.

Noticeable progress is one of the best motivators on big projects. You're doing a great job tackling this!

Thanks! It seems to be better when you can see progress and it makes things go smoother. It is just one piece of the puzzle at a time.

Looks like your making good progress. Aaahhh the endless project list. Gotta love it. Lol.

Thanks! The project list is like the energizer bunny it just keeps going, I am having a hard time keeping up with it. LOL.

DAH ha ha so true. I’ve got projects rolling in from my parents too. They act like I owe them something. Lol.

You are making good progress. I am getting my attic insulated and wiring put in by a roommate and friend. You are doing it much faster than we are. I look forward to the finished work pictures.
.

It seems like it takes forever to get it done. LOL

Starting to look a lot better already. Sure it smells better too. Now the nests are removed.

Thanks! it gets better a little everyday. Yes, it does smell better, the nests were old from where it was in storage.
