The MVP pipeline will deliver fracked natural gas from West Virginia to North Carolina. Cutting an ugly (125 foot) swath through some pristine habitats, and taking people's property for over 300 miles. Do we NEED this natural gas bad enough to destroy our environment? EQT has natural gas, and they need to get rid of it.

We do not own our property. We just rent it from our government. Stop paying your rent (taxes), and see who owns it. I don't think that there is any place on Earth where people REALLY own their property. In this case private property is taken by imminent domain, by a private corporation.

An Unnecessary Threat to the A.T.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is strongly opposed to the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline project, which would cause irreversible damage to the Appalachian Trail.

The Mountain Valley Pipeline, spearheaded by EQT Corporation, is proposed to carry fracked natural gas for over 300 miles through the Virginia and West Virginia countryside, crossing over dozens of water sources, through protected areas and breaching the A.T. corridor. The pipeline will run parallel to the Appalachian Trail for over 90 miles and carve ugly gashes in the landscape that will be seen from 20 miles away.
We have a history of working collaboratively to ensure that the energy needs of the public are met while preserving the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and the unique hiking experience the A.T. provides. However, the proposed pipeline will needlessly devastate the Appalachian Trail on an unprecedented scale.

How did our government get so much corrupted power? Corporations are in control, and our government implements their wishes at our expense. We are all serfs.

I have a feeling I read this article somewhere else. Deja vu!

I'm not necessarily against pipelines but imminent domain is BS. The serfs that escaped Europe to create a better life for their families are serfs once again...

This pipeline is a reality for me as it cuts across land in my community. It wasn't real until I saw it crossing the road on the way to my property. It felt like a punch in the gut. I also can hear the forest machines erasing the forest, and the dynamite explosions, while I am at my cabin. That's CLOSE.

Some families have been farming here for generations. I have seen them fight it to no avail. Some people are just fed up, and have their properties up for sale. But who is going to want to buy land with the pipeline on it? Maybe at a discount.

It also saddens me to see this pipeline crossing over the Blue Ridge Parkway, through the national forests, and following the Appalachian Trail to feed our oil addiction.

A tangent: I think Bitcoin, and digital currency in general has the ability to restore power back to us. It can do to the banksters, and corporations, what file sharing did to the GREEDY music industry.

That is too bad. I do agree that cryptocurrency and blockchain technology has the ability to restore power to the people if we harness it correctly. it can do a lot more then just function as money.
