Alaskan Chamomile- Disturbed Soil Medicines pt. 1

in #homestead7 years ago

This is part 1 of a series I am doing called DISTURBED SOIL MEDICINES. In this series I will be highlighting medicines of the North that grow in places that humans have settled. Many roads and yards are filled with wonderful medicines that we might be depending on one day and should be depending on right now.

Alaskan Chamomile aka Pineapple Weed

Looks a lot like the Chamomile everyone knows except it never gets the white pedals

Regular Chamomile I grew from seed

Medicinal Uses:
This wild chamomile can be used much like regular chamomile. It has a calming affect so teas, baths, potpourri made from it works great for helping with sleep and calming nerves.

Alaska Natives use this plant to make infusions for the teething gums of their infants and teas for mothers after childbirth

Aleuts and Russian people use the tea for gas pains and upset stomachs

Thank you. Good information, which is what we all want, and recipes to boot. Found via @preepers, who I found via if you can believe it, from a guy in England @preppervetuk.
I love the round-a-bout way of finding cool info.
If your ever interested in some very cool eye candy try @neonartist, he is currently working miracles via airbrush for the kids.

My daughter is opening the first tea house in central Arkansas in February. She knows a lot about camomille and other tea blends. abbisteas.com
