EVAN DRIVES LIKE A BOSS!!!

Off road, in the creek or climbing hills... THERE'S NO STOPPING HIM!!!

Seriously, take a look at this video of him destroying the trail during a recent driving lesson.(Around here we teach 'em to drive off the roads long before we teach them to drive on them...it's funner that way.😁😁)

With the solar shed built and a few other things finished up, after returning from our Alabama trip (click the following link to read about it. https://hive.blog/homestead/@johndoer123/homesteading-in-alabama-with-makinstuff) I decided I was ready to break ground on our temporary living quarters. So I borrowed an auger for digging and started drilling holes.

While I did have a piece of equipment that made it much easier then by hand,it was still very tough and it took me a while day to drill forty holes.(I only needed thirty, but I dug a few in the wrong place.🤪🤪)

CHARRING LOGS

With all the holes drilled and the logs being already cut previously, it was time to char their bottoms. This will help prevent bugs from wanting to chew on them and help the structure last that much longer. So once again I borrowed a tool that will make it much quicker to do this, instead of having to burn each log slowly. It's kind of like a flamethrower. Watch the video below to see how quickly and easily it's done.

Not a typo.... I literally have a new buddy named Stitch and while we are only keeping him for a short while (he will be being released into the wild) he is really fun and crazy.

THE FUTURE

I am hoping to have the rest of the logs charred this week and hopefully have them in the ground by next week. But truthfully I'm not sure,as the logs that will hold the structure are massive and heavy. They are eleven feet(3.9 metered) long and 10-18 inches (.3-.5meters)around... And they're Oak...that all adds up to extremely heavy, and it looks like it will be only me playing around with them.

After that comes installing the base framing and a floor. At that point I will be moving from the city to live at the homestead. I will be selling my house in town...so there is no looking back at that point... I can't wait to get there!!!

Lately our homestead has been receiving a great influx of support from the Hive And Steem communities. And we can't thank you all enough! At the current time I am in a power down to help fund our homestead to get it going. I would much rather not power down because it helps other community members for us to have HP/SP. So I am hopeful to keep receiving love and support and be able to stop the power down. But things are just so tight right now and every little bit helps.
