NEW PUPPIES! Anatolian Shepherd - Great Pyrenees Puppies! Our New Future Farm Dogs

We just got 2 new livestock guardian puppies this past weekend. We decided on a anatolian shepherd great pyrenees mix puppy, bc we were wanting something that had shorter hair than a full blooded great pyrenees dog. We were actually leaning towards a full blooded anatolian shepherd, but we had a few friends of ours recommend the mix of the anatolian & great pyrenees, & actually a friend of ours that just purchased a anatolian pyrenees puppy mix just last week, & gave the contact information of the family they got her from. So we contacted them about the livestock guardian puppies they had, & met them in Montevallo, Alabama & as they say, the rest is history.

The reason we decided to get a new livestock guardian dog, is bc our older female great pyrenees, LuLu, just recently passed away & ever since then, we have had a predator issue...mainly foxes, but also we have been contacted by some close neighbors that they have seen several coyotes lately too. We still have our giant male great pyrenees, but it is really obvious now, that he depended on LuLu a great deal, & since she is no longer there, he has became fairly lazy, & seems to be protecting the back of our property only. So we decided to get another livestock guardian.

At first we were only going to get 1 puppy, but the more I thought about it, the more that getting 2 puppies just made more sense. they can keep each other company, this way they will not get bored and decided not to go play with the chickens or ducks.... also they could bond & stay together instead of following the male great pyrenees every where, which they still might do. But getting 2 anatolian pyrenees puppies just made more sense for us.

The pyrenees anatolian puppies are a little timid right now, but they are coming around & are as skittish as they were a few days ago, & I do hope & think they will grow up to be great livestock guardian dogs here on our farm. So fingers crossed that we made the right decision & they will be great farm dogs, & besides, is there anything sweeter than puppy's breath ;)
