RE: Experiences of a Homeschooler

In my home state of Kentucky, in order to homeschool a child, a vast record must be kept of almost all lessons, and a core curriculum must be followed. 185 6-hour days must be recorded as attendence, and it is all subject to state audits. I'm certainly going to be jumping through hoops to homeschool, but I'm not discouraged.

Our state is pretty liberal. We must declare our intent to homeschool, qualify one of four ways (the simplest being a one time course that costs $90 and takes as little as 4 hours), cover 11 subjects, do 1000 hours but this doesn't have to be recorded or anything, and test or assess each year (for your own records). Easy as pie.
