I was homeschooled for a couple years as a kid. My mom would incorporate math into our everyday things (especially cooking). Then when we'd do the worksheets and insist we couldn't do it she could say "Imagine you're making cookies and need to double the recipe," to show us we'd been doing this thing all along.
