Tutors are indeed a great way to help children understand a greater variety of subjects. I think it's extremely important for children to learn things from different people as everybody has different ways of approaching material. This way, a child can develop it's own unique way of understanding the material more easily. If a child only has one mentor, even if the mentor is good at all subjects, it is still only getting one perspective on everything, which might not help with developing critical thinking skills.
