So today was the first day that we sat down and started our new lesson plan. Math went really well, but phonics and reading was a little more difficult. We will continue to work on writing letters, sounding out letters, and the ultimate goal.....Reading!!! Leyna's Horizon Alpha Omega workbooks jut arrived yesterday and I wanted to get ahead start on them so she can get start getting used to the idea of working on these things everyday. We also conducted an art project as well today- molding a clay item then painting it💕All in all- a good first day of kindergarten lessons!!!

Hi, i taught 3 to 7 year olds for 10 years in montessori schools. Good to see youre using phonics...thats the key. I have a bunch of videos on youtube that touch on ways to teach phonics. If u dont mind me asking what are ages of your students?

Well like i said, i think you are smart to focus on phonics. Every child is unique and in a unique learning stage...obviously a big reason why institutional school system fails...so its always a game of staying in tune with interest and what a child desires to learn next! If we can offer learning activites based on current interests, children see academics as fun and not drilling meaningless facts.
