Getting the old fridge out
Cleaning out this house, we had to remove the refrigerator. It was nasty inside and could not be saved. Knowing a scrap metal yard near by we take the unit to get it recycled. They pay me about $5 for bringing them a refrigerator. Better than me paying someone to remove it.
Though it was not as easy as we thought it would be. With the doors on the refrigerator it would not fit through any of the door ways to the outside of the home.
It sure looked like it would fit but we were fractions of an inch off from clearing. We talked about solutions. And came to the idea go remove the framing from the doorway.
We were trying to figure out how it got in here if we are having so much trouble removing it. It couldn't have been in there before the house was completed.. hmm had to think for a bit.
We decided to attempt to remove the framing. It was on there real good and did not budge. Then we came up with the idea of removing the doors. And it all started to make sense. By removing the door and hinges we got the extra space we needed to successfully get it through the doorways.
Once outside we got it down the steps and down to @ibt's waiting truck bed. After some work clearing out the bed and moving items around we got it loaded and ratchet strapped in there.
We arrive at our final destination for this old fridge. We have the truck weighed with the refrigerator on his truck. Then unload it and weigh his truck again. The difference in the weight is how much they pay me for the appliance scrap.
