RE: New to this!

Welcome to steemit!

Free Speech is going to always have its limits. Most of those limits self imposed or socially imposed. Especially when it comes to a person that has a professional or public life. What a person says has an impact.

For example, if someone well known is working for a company that sells a popular product openly states that they believe (their opinion) that pedophilia is an acceptable sexual orientation in a public forum the company has the right to fire them. If they don't they might as well close their doors because by not firing them it will be perceived by consumers that they agree with the opinion. Same thing if it were to be singer or actor endorsing the product stating the same opinion.

It's also how an opinion is voiced. Free Speech doesn't mean that you can use it as a platform for vulgarity, hate speech, and bullying.

Steemit does promote anonymity to allow everyone to voice an opinion. Even then there are limits. Attacking other groups or individuals will most likely result in flags and a negative reputation.

On a lighter note, you can use up to 5 relative tags for your post for better visibility. I would suggest doing an introduceyourself post. Check out the tag and see how others have introduced themselves. We really only like to see the tag used once to make navigation easier.

Welcome! Enjoy your stay and you can add a link to your blog under settings.
