Stan Lee denies sexual misconduct allegations made by several women working for the nursing company that he previously employed. As the creator behind some of the most iconic Marvel heroes, the 95-year-old is well-loved in the industry, and has expanded to film through his Marvel movie cameos. He is also very vocal about social injustices as reflected in multiple of his comic narratives and characters. That is why this particular news has been shocking to countless fans who view Lee as an honorable man.

Lee is one of the latest high-profile men who has been accused of improper behavior toward women that began with the industry-shaking report involving veteran producer Harvey Weinstein. In the months that followed, a number of other personalities in Hollywood have been outed for their inappropriate behavior in the workplace- most of them have already been removed from their current projects, including Kevin Spacey, Louis C.K., Brett Ratner, former DC Comics editor Eddie Berganza, Arrowverse producer Andrew Kreisberg, One Tree Hill producer Mark Schwahn, Girls writer/producer Murray Miller, Charlie Rose, and Matt Lauer.

In an official statement to BuzzFeed News, Lee’s attorney, Tom Lallas, refutes the claims of alleged improper behavior by the comic book writer. He also went as far as saying that these accusations are nothing but a scheme to scam money from his client:

“Mr. Lee categorically denies these false and despicable allegations and he fully intends to fight to protect his stellar good name and impeccable character. We are not aware of anyone filing a civil action, or reporting these issues to the police, which for any genuine claim would be the more appropriate way for it to be handled. Instead, Mr. Lee has received demands to pay money and threats that if he does not do so, the accuser will go to the media.”
