1802 English inventor Richard Trevithick received the first patent for a locomotive
1822 The Englishman William Church was the first to patent a typographic set-up machine
1882 Robert Koch made a sensational report - he managed to isolate a bacterium that causes tuberculosis
1898 The first American car model Winton, manufactured by Winton Motor Carriage Company, was sold for $ 1000 by mining engineer Robert Ellison.

The automotive industry received real prerequisites for development only after the appearance of an easy, compact and sufficiently powerful internal combustion engine, which opened up ample opportunities for the development of the car.
In 1885 the German inventor G. Daimler, and in 1886 his compatriot K. Bents manufactured and patented the first self-propelled carriages with gasoline engines. However, it was America that made the car cult products.
The starting point in the US auto industry is the 1896 year. In that very year, the first company to produce American cars was created. And on March 24, 1898, the model Winton, produced by Winton Motor Carriage Company, was acquired by mining engineer Robert Ellison for $ 1000.
Allison saw an advertisement for a "horseless" vehicle with a leather roof and gas lanterns in the journal Scientific American. At the time of purchase, there were only 4 of these cars.
The company that designed the first car was founded on March 15, 1897 by Alexander Vinton. The first cars of its design stood out against the background of competitors with originally painted side walls, soft seats, gas-filled lamps and a leather roof.
The company stopped production of cars in 1924, but continued production of ship and stationary diesel engines. In June 1930, the company became part of General Motors.
As for the fate of the first sold model, "Winton" - after Ellison's death, the Winton Motor Carriage Company bought the car back and presented it to the museum.
