Holiday season

in #holiday5 years ago

Here in New Zealand our holiday season has begun. It’s now 26th December just as much of the world enters or exists Christmas Day.

Being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses we don’t celebrate Christmas but Christmas/Boxing Day/New Years/Day after New Years are all Public Holidays so for the most part we get them off whether we celebrate the days or not. In fact Christmas Day is one of 2 days in the year where everyone is forced to have off unless you work at a service station. Businesses can get fined for working these days.

This year me, Mrs Wookie, and Little Wookie are spending our holiday in Napier. A popular holiday spot for many but one we’ve never really had the reason to visit. It’s always been a “nice to visit” sort of a place. That changed in November when my folks moved there.

Christmas Day is a great day to travel because traffic is pretty quiet thanks to most people having spent Christmas Eve travelling. There are many perks to not celebrating Christmas really. 😂

Unfortunately I accidentally double bounced Little Wookie on the air cushion thing at the motor camp we’re staying at and he twisted his knee. Not a great start to the holiday but he’s starting to move more on it. Tomorrow hopefully will be Splash Planet so the water should help. He already had a great time in the swimming pool at the camp.

I head home on Sunday afternoon on the bus because I have to work Monday so my wife and the little one will stay at the folk’s until Tuesday. That works nicely for me because it means lots of workshop time unhindered. We’ll see if that’s how it plays out though.

If you’re travelling all then please do so safely. Don’t drink, drive, and die. And for the love of Pete drive with your lights on.
