Batten the hatches and prepare to be boarded!

As most of the most ridiculous things in life do it all started with a couple of guys... While playing racketball one evening they discovered how much greater they were spurred on to greatness by the simple pleasures of yelling encouraging phrases such as “That be a fine cannonade!” and “Now watch as I fire a broadside into your yardarm!”

These be John Baur and Mark Summers, the instigaters of this here holiday.

As they had no account on Steemit and even fewer followers their obvious next step (to create an international holiday) didn’t get very far. They did however have email. In hopes of gaining more followers they turned to a whale. Dave Barry, an international humorist and columnist, agreed that Talk Like a Pirate Day was obviously something that should be shared. The day agreed upon was September 19 which didn’t infringe on any of the other important days (D-day landing, Christmas, and Super Bowl weekend were mentioned) and it coincidentally was Mark’s ex-wife’s birthday.

So take yerself to th’ nearest tavern, order up some grog and lift yer mug to Talk Like A Pirate Day!
