Humboldt Broncos Strong

Last week, a tragedy happened in Canada that would be along the lines of a school shooting in the respect that a country comes together to support the tragic loss of our youth. The story at a high level:

• On Friday, a bus transporting a Canadian junior hockey team crashed north of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada with the immediate reported death toll of 15 and 14 critically injured.

• Victims included players, coaching and support staff as they were headed to a playoff game.
• Since the initial incident, additional deaths have followed of some critically injured and the death toll rose.

This is an awful tragedy for the families and community immediately impacted for sure. What really caught my attention was how the entire nation turned its attention and support to Humboldt in such a unanimous manor in so many ways. Thousands of miles away, millions of people from most communities across Canada set their hockey sticks out front of their houses in silent vigil.....in a "Sticks Out for Humboldt" movement.

The Canadian Broadcast Corporation immediately mobilized to rally behind the community on their most popular broadcasting night and all 30+ million Canadians jumped on board.

I generally don't have to search far to find some sort of tragedy that has happened and generally try and limit my grief and efforts to situations and people I can positively effect directly. I can say that I am proud of the nation we are and inspired to see people coming together for a united cause and wish it didn't take a tragedy to have that happen.
