how to.... make a Quill pen....... this one i made for my daughter jade...!

i made my daughter jade a gift... for her "harry Potter" cabinet.
a Quill pen with a parrot feather.
i hope this photo series will help other peoples to get creative and make one of their own...!! for their kids...!!

it was my fist attempt so i was quite satisfied with the end result
first of course i had to find the right feather, and i found them in the museum shop in Nijmegen ( https://www.demuseumwinkel.com/ ) Some lose ink pens and superglue and Wax thread (Cotton)
and a good think of how i was going to do this.
what i needed and how to use the materials i collected to make a Quill pen out of it...

the ink pen has to fit into the feather...!!!

so you clip the feather at the place where you think it will fit...

you superglue the wax thread in the opened end of the feather, remember that you have to look how the feather will lie in your hands when you write with it, do tests about how it feels good in your hand...!!
do this, it saves you a lot of disappointment later on...!!

after that you glue the pen onto the feather and start turning the wax thread around the end of the pen on the feather..!! at the beginning you drop a drop of superglue on the thread, so it is fixed...

really tight......

at the end you superglue the wax thread onto the feather.... just a drop of it on the end and you are almost finished with the process....

at the end you also need an ink jar, and of course a crystal ball in a piece of suede cloth for wrapping, a glass foot for the ball and a small shot glass and the quill pen to make it a complete gift for your kid.....

making it yourself is the best gift.
