The Hobbit, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, is an amazing tale set in the fictional world of Middle-Earth. It follows a homebody Hobbit by the name of Bilbo Baggins who is chosen by an extraordinary wizard, Gandalf, to tag along on a journey with a group of Dwarves to take back their territory and treasure from Smaug, the English speaking fire breathing dragon that stole everything they once owned from them. Published in 1937 and the basis for The Lord Of The Rings franchise as well as the Hobbit movies, made popular by Peter Jackson.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I read it back when I was in 4th grade, but obviously I'm not gonna remember most of what I read, especially at such a young age. So, I decided to re-read it, which was a good choice. It's interesting to read about Bilbo's experience, mainly, because before he was chosen to go on this incredible journey, he had never left his hometown, The Shire. For most of his life, he was a boring old Hobbit who had an agenda that only pertained to himself. He went from frightened little Hobbit to a Hobbit with many stories of battle and strange creatures in a far away land. It's cool to see the perspective of the Dwarves towards Bilbo change as you near the end of the story.

They face many enemies along the way before facing the most intimidating enemy of all, Smaug. Orcs, giant wolves and even elves that didn't find them welcoming. Like some people, I was introduced to this franchise through the Lord Of The Rings movies. As a kid, I watched them, and I loved them. It made this book much more enjoyable to read. Seeing the roots of where Frodo came from, and seeing the earlier adventures of the amazing Gandalf make each page more and more exciting to turn. I loved this book and I definitely recommend it! 5/5. Easy read, so pick it up!

Loved this book. What is your opinion on the films mate?

I've only actually seen the first one, honestly. I'm easy to impress when it comes to movies, so I enjoyed it. I liked how they used situations from the book in some scenes instead of doing their own thing the whole time
