My thoughts. It's clearly been mentioned (repeatedly) in the guidelines that curators are free to vote any publication except those with AI and plagiarized content. But it's like nobody (except a few) can read that line. Maybe that explicit statement by sc02 can open some eyes.

Clubs, burns, steem exclusivity and organic votes - these are all ideal conditions which have stabilized the ecosystem in a way, but these can't have precedence over content even if all combined. Steemit is a content-based platform, it's ridiculous to prioritize anything else over it and lose the purpose. If curators will value content, authors will make effort. If curators will value secondary things, authors will focus on those. It's like a dance - a curator-author tango.

It's good to see the team now showing some flexibility in rules. I have myself been very vocal about this flexibility in the past and I still am...this development will ensure the retention of good authors.

The thing with fixed votes is that they make you lazy. But there are some authors who make effort anyways. I just hope this flexibility is for all who deserve it.
